Most important for an author is to catch the readers attention. It is not easy to make a writing interesting. It doesn' t matter if you write in your mother language or a foreign language. However, it is much more difficult to write in your second language and express your ideas so that everybody can follow and understand what you are talking about.
That makes the writing for me that difficult as it is. To write down my ideas exciting and with the correct grammar has something to do with practice. The main problem is using the correct grammar while thinking about the topic and the paragraphs. Hopefully, everybody gets the context of what I want to express. One of my strength is to be an persuative writer, I think I can convince the reader that I have the right opinion. The organisation I use is ususally very good. My writing skills have improved a lot in the level 5 because I have seldom written in English. Neither in school nor in my job I have to use my English skills to write anything down. The quality of an essay of mine also depends on the topic. It is easier to write about a topic I' m interested in or I would like to know more about that than to write about a less interesting theme. In my opinion, I can express myself also in a written form so that it is interesting for my readers and they pay attention on my essay and also receive some information of it. I' m looking forward to write essays including information from other authors or using different sources to get more information about the topic before writing. That will be an excellent way to improve my writing skills in a way that makes it more effective. I will spend a lot of time with the writings I have to do so hopefully there are exciting topics. I don' t like to write about myself or other human behavior; it is very hard to develop ideas therefore and perhaps that is a weakness for my writing. On the other hand, I have to learn to deal with that kind of topics to write also good essays about these (and get good grades). Writing about a theme which I have to know facts for or that has some actuality is more interesting an I'm interested in writing those things and in the past it was easier to write about that.

Even for writers using their native languages, it is hard to make writing interesting!
If you are able to express ideas clearly, then you are doing well, at least for the ELI and study in a University. :)
Actually, one of my favorite authors is a woman (Karen Blixen) whose native language is Danish. I'm so impressed that she can write interesting stories, and write so clearly and well, in a foreign language.
I also agree about the grammer in writing!
I think grammer(structure) is the most difficult part that most of the students would feel like us.
and when I see your writing skills in class,I also thought your vocabulary or organization skills are good as you had mentioned in your writing.
I understand what you say that it's difficult to let the reader pay attention our writing. In my opinion, if you understand your writing clearly, the readers could definitely make it sense because we have a same attention to read any essays to catch what the writer try to say.
